Jacinda Ardern sets the tone

Jacinda Ardern didn't feel like she was 'tough enough' for politics | CNN

Jacinda Ardern represents a large and growing sentiment among left wingers that the problems of climate change skepticism, resistance to the great replacement, meaning mass immigration in societies undergoing demographic collapse, and hate, meaning whatever the political left does not like to hear about race, sex, class, ethnicity or culture, can be solved by speech controls.

The Iberian peninsula experimented with official speech control for centuries. It was called the Inquisition. Those countries are still marked by a lack of scientific research and delayed transition to democratic governments long after the repressive institutions were abandoned, and their transition to liberal democracy came only after violent civil war and reactionary dictatorships. But who cares about the lessons of history? Ardern and her types know they are right. Speech controls will solve the problems caused by disinformation, otherwise known as political dissent.

The light touch speech inquisition she desires will be neither light nor of short duration. Organizations spawned by government only grow. Especially when their mandates are infinite.

"We have the means; we just lack the collective will", says Ardern. To which I reply, in Canada we appear to have the collective will to censor the Internet. It is called Bill C-11, the Online Streaming Act.
